May River Forest

May River Forest covers 750 acres and includes 240 homes sites ranging from a half an acre to five acres. Lots overlook lakes, salt marshes, the May River and the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, which was completed in January. Sixty-two, estate-sized home sites and waterfront family compounds also are available for $325,000 to $4.25 million.

The Jack Nicklaus golf house will serve as a gathering place for residents and golfers. It will include a grillroom, bar and pro shop.

The Village

Developers will locate 250 home sites around Village Square and its dining and shopping areas. The Village also will become home to 70 rental cottages and homes and an upscale, 58-room inn and spa. Other plans include restaurants, a bakery, chapel, community dock, fitness center, general store, oufitters and nature center and post office along with artist studios and small shops.

Village Square will serve as palmetto Bluff's heart and soul, Baysden said. "The Village is really what sets this place apart," he said. "And being anchored by the inn is what sets The Village apart."

Baysden compared the village to those found in other upscale communities like Aspen, Nantucket and Carmel. "Those places all have large lots and large, extravagant homes with a village at their core," he said.
